ACCOMMODATION
At KARIBA BUSH CLUB you have a variety of accommodation to choose
from.
THE
CLUBHOUSE is our backpackers’ lodge built in traditional
style with 'pole & dagga', thatched roofs, surrounded by indigenous
trees. All the huts, the bar, swimming pool, restaurant area, hot
water ablutions etc. have been built with local materials by Kariba
Bush Club staff, utilizing local stones, clay, thatching grass, hand
made bricks, wooden poles and timber, all sourced locally and built
to perfectly blend with the surroundings and vegetation. Most of the
major work, such as cutting and combing of thatching grass, brick
moulding and collection of stones, are organized with the local people
from the surrounding villages on a contract basis. The wooden poles
that we use are bought from the local community when areas are cleared
for traditional farming. Poles are never cut just for the purpose
of building.
We
offer camping, private rooms and dorms and are now building more en-suite
chalets. A bigger reception area with fishpond, Internet café
and local crafts shop are coming (at the moment you can still access
your email at the office; locally hand made crocodile leather products,
as well as Tonga style baskets woven by the ladies from the village
and other crafts are for sale at the bar). All rooms are mosquito
proofed and have fans.
Kariba Bush Club is set on vast green lawns (blue buffalo grass) with
indigenous tall shady trees (Mopane, Wild Figs, Baobabs, Thorn Threes,
Bushwillows etc.) where you can relax on one of our hammocks reading
a good book, updating your diary, spotting the amazing bird life or
observing the hippos in the water. The view is spectacular and there
is always a refreshing cool breeze coming from the lake!
Guests
can enjoy a fully stocked bar and swimming pool with stunning views,
self-catering kitchen and BBQ facilities as well as delicious home
made meals prepared by our cooks.

MEALS
& BAR
You can choose a self-catering option (The Guesthouses both have fully
equipped kitchens and at The Clubhouse there is an outdoor self-catering
kitchen with lake view) or enjoy our homemade meals on offer at The
Clubhouse.
If you are self-catered, remember to do shopping before your arrival
(shop in Livingstone if coming from West, in Lusaka or Mazabuka if
coming from East) as the colourful local market here in Siansowa supplies
only basic things such as a some variety of canned food, dried fish,
limited vegetables of the season, flour, mealy meal, cooking oil etc.
At The Clubhouse we sell frozen meat (whole chickens, pork chops,
bream and crocodile fillets) as well as fresh eggs and bread.
At Kariba Bush Club our enthusiastic cooks have been trained from
day 1 and use locally produced ingredients as much as possible. You
can try our famous crocodile stir-fry, our homemade pasta, fresh bream
from the lake and many other dishes. All the food on our menu is homemade
at The Clubhouse, from the “Hungry breakfast” to light lunches and
the two or three course dinners. Chickens and pigs are “home-style”
farmed within the farm’s property from where we also get wood-oven
baked bread and fresh eggs every morning.
We are very flexible for all meal requests, but the more notice you
give us the better the meal will be. Please let us know if you have
any special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarians, definite dislikes,
allergies etc.), we will always do our best to meet your needs.
The kitchen is open from 6 am to 9 pm and you can order your meals
directly with the cooks or with the barmen at the bar.
Our bar at The Clubhouse overlooks a big bay facing West, North and
East (it has a 200 degree view of the lake) and it has been designed
so that, wherever you sit, there is nothing between you and the panorama.
It is definitely the best spot for sundowners and the drinks are ICE
COLD!!!
The bar is open from 8 am until the last guest leaves the bar.
